ZE STUDIO

ZE STUDIO is a food, beverage and product photography studio in Riga, Latvia, run by Māris Zemgalietis and Māra Zemgaliete. We work with European brands, agencies and producers on advertising, packaging, e-commerce and editorial imagery.

HOW WE WORK

Today, the studio works with a Phase One medium format system and Broncolor lighting. Clients can ship products directly to Riga and approve shoots remotely, so no travel to Latvia is required. Production in Riga also keeps production costs below those of many Western European markets.

Māra styles and prepares the food; for more complex work, the studio brings in professional chefs. Māris handles photography, lighting and post-production. Video and motion content can be produced during the same session, using the same set and lighting.

MEASURABLE IMAGING

Alongside commercial work, ZE STUDIO photographs cultural heritage material for digitisation, with image quality measured, analysed and documented for each session against ISO 19264-1.

EXPERIENCE

Māris and Māra have worked with digital medium format since 2003, when they became the first commercial photographers in Latvia to adopt the technology. From the early Imacon FlexFrame systems through Hasselblad and successive generations of Phase One backs, medium format has remained at the centre of the studio's imaging workflow. Earlier, Māris worked in documentary photography, publishing and museum imaging.
